Plainly, literature is a body of works related by dominant cultural standards. It could be applied broadly to mean any symbolic record, encompassing everything from images and sculptures to letters. Given the techologies of the day, shouldn't this include graphic, audio, video, and interactive works? Are La Jetee, The Matrix, or 2001: A Space Odyssey any less fit for philosophical discussion, simply because they're movies? Are BioShock, Half-Life or Dead Space, any less fit because they're games?

It seems like women in comics get the short end of the stick. Tom will be back to update us on Dr. Bussard's work, run the fusor again, and show us what sort of spacecraft this reactor might one day power.

Perpetual motion, free energy, anti-gravity, etc. Although they have never worked, such "inventions" have been popping up since the middle ages. Why can't these fallacies be laid to rest? Is there a glimmer of reality to any of it?

SF posits almost as many marvels of the mind as of physics -- jacking in to cyberspace, artificial telepathy, electronic brain enhancements, drugs that increase intelligence or change personality, just to name a few. Some of these concepts are beginning to come true today. Others remain fiction for now. What is plausible and what isn't?
