The program is available (see below), in a variety of formats for your convenience. Philcon offers a wide range of programs throughout the weekend and organizes them by tracks. The program remains fluid right up to the con itself, as participants are added to specific programs or have changes to their plans. At the con you will receive a pocket program with a snapshot of the program as it was when we went to press, shortly before the con. Any changes made at-con will be circulated through the Philcon Rocket, our regular at-con newsletter.

Program Notes
Philcon as an extensive and varied program. Plan to spend time looking through the grids and lists online on this web site as well as listed in your pocket program (and as updated in the Philcon Rocket for the latest changes). We have a few notes on particular programs you may find of interest.
Special Program Note – See The Farnsworth Fusor Demo
Philcon 2008 has an extensive array of programs and participants, including some notable unusal options. One such program will be a panel featuring a demonstration of the Farnsworth Fusor, brought by Tom Ligon, writer and home fusion hobbyist. The fusor causes hydrogen atoms to collide and form helium (see http://www.fusor.net/ for more information). Check your pocket program for time and location.
Special Program Notes – Anime Track
The Anime track will have screenings, panels and a special Meet & Greet. For the convenience of all, all of these will be held in the same program room. See program by track for the listings.
One screening of special interest is “Akira” – 20th Anniversary scheduled for 11:59 p.m. Saturday:
- “Akira” – 20th Anniversary Screening
- In the summer of 1988, the animation world was rocked by the premier of Katsuhiro Otomo’s groundbreaking dystopian masterpiece AKIRA! In 2019, 31 years after World War III, Neo-Tokyo is a powder keg of crime, politics, gang warfare and civil unrest. The authorities, while trying to quell the riots and disturbances, are conducting secret experiments to develop powerful psychics. Caught in the middle of this struggle is Kaneda, the young leader of a local biker gang, and Tetsuo, the bitter runt of the pack. When Tetsuo is kidnapped by the military for psychic development, Kaneda pursues his lost friend with reckless tenacity. But what neither Kaneda nor the military realize is Tetsuo’s true potential – a lethal potential that could rival the destroyer of Tokyo 31 years ago – AKIRA.
Please also note the Sunday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) Meet and Greet with Zenkaikon/Delaware Anime Society. Come chat with members of this growing Philly-area fan organization.
