PHILCON 2008: Looking Back at Philcon
Philcon Over The Years
Philcon has a long and fascinating history. Philcon is hosted by The Philadelphia Science Fiction Society and has been since 1936. We are in the process of building that past history with information from web sites, program books and more.
If you have (accessible) source materials on past Philcons and can help document some of our missing information, please let us know.
Past Philcon Web Sites
These web sites illustrate the style and substance of previous Philcons back through 1995. Not all features on all of these sites still work, and some of the information was taken down as time passed, but they do give you the flavor of those years. Enjoy.
Philcon Basics Over The Years
Philcon uses the term “Principal Speaker” instead of “Guest of Honor.” We also call our convention “The Philadelphia Conference on Science Fiction and Fantasy.” Most years we have a Principal Speaker and an Artist Guest of Honor. Many years we also have one or more special guests, depending on the lead of that year’s Philcon Chair, who selects the guests (a small but significant reward for many hours of hard work!)
