PHILCON 2008: Dealers Room

Shopping Mecca at the Philcon 2008 Dealers’ Room!

Dealers’ Room Shopping Hours

  • Friday: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

One of the great things to do at Philcon is go shopping! Sure, you can go to a mall, a local bookstore – hey, is there anything left you can’t buy on the Internet? Not likely, but there is something unique about shopping at a con. Everything is geared for us, our community. It's a place to buy what you want without comments or funny looks from non-fannish friends, family or the kid taking your money at the register.

The Dealers’ Room has booksellers who are extremely knowledgeable about SF authors and hard-to-find books. Some have new and current books, but others have used books, maybe even out-of-print rarities. Many attendees build relationships with certain dealers who bring specific items they know those attendees will find of interest or have previously requested. The relationship between the vendors and the people who wander in the Dealers’ Room can be very close, as many Philcon vendors have been coming for years, maybe even decades. (Perhaps it's human nature to want to see the same people at the same time each year as something comforting in an ever-changing world.)

Alongside the books, there are DVDs, clothes, candles, jewelry, toys, dolls, accessories, costumes, buttons, T-shirts, music, comics, games, and much more. You can do your entire holiday shopping there. Find cool gifts for yourself and others!

Make sure you have your badge with you as you will not be allowed in without it.
